The Medical Assistant Career

This program is designed to teach students how to function effectively as an integral member of a physician’s office or health care team.

Administrative (Front Office)

Patient scheduling, handling patient accounts and records, insurance billing, medical office management, electronic health records, and medical assistant computer skills.

Clinical (Back Office)

Taking patient histories and vital signs, preparing patients for examination or procedures, assisting the physician with examinations and treatments, and diagnostic tests.

Medical Assistant Externship

The externship is designed for the student to apply the knowledge and skills attained throughout the program and gain real-world experience in a physician’s office or medical office setting. Externship hours must be completed at a physical site.

Pharmacy Tech

The Pharmacy Technician Career

This program trains students to be effective pharmacy technicians, supporting licensed pharmacists in dispensing medications and healthcare products that treat illnesses, alleviate pain, and enhance lives, while ensuring safety and professionalism in patient care.

Pharmacy Technician Program Components

- Drug classifications

- Medical and pharmaceutical terminology.

- Dispensing prescription drugs and dosage forms.

- Prescription interpreting and reading.

-Non-prescription drugs and treatments.

Pharmacy Externship

The externship allows students to apply the knowledge and skills they've gained during the program while gaining valuable real-world experience in a pharmacy or pharmaceutical setting. All externship hours must be completed at a physical location.

State of Florida Registration: FEI will register graduates of this program with the Florida Board of Pharmacy. Please note that the registration fee is not included in FEI's program cost and must be covered by the graduate.

The Medical Billing and Coding Career

This program is designed to teach students the knowledge and skills necessary for entry level employment in a variety of health care settings as a medical coder/biller who performs insurance processing and medical coding functions.

Medical Billing and Coding Program Components

Interpret medical documentation as it relates to the major structures, functions, and pathologies of body systems. Assigning ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for diagnoses, procedures, and medical services as part of the insurance reimbursement process.

Provide knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS procedure codes, including coding assignments and reporting guidelines. Medical core courses in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, human diseases, pharmacology.

The Medical Office Administrator Career

This associate degree is designed to teach students how to function effectively as an integral member of a physician’s office or as part of a health care team as a manager/supervisor.  The following are the major components of FEI’s Medical Office Administrator associate degree program. 

Administration or Management

This program emphasizes the management, operational, and clinical functions of a medical office or facility.  This program includes instruction in medical office administration, medical business office operations, and manager/supervisor in a medical facility or physician’s office.
